Health impacts in the United States and across the globe on diverse populations is a scandal and a shame. There should be no reason a person of color should have different and worse outcomes, and if there is a scientific reason, we should get to the bottom of it and change it. The medical scientific community is the place to start with clinical trials.

I truly believe I would not be here today if not for a clinical trial I participated in the 1970’s. The trial was for tamoxifen, and I was considered high risk because of breast cancer in my family.
Even though I had reservations about the side-effects and uncertainty about a brand new drug, I decided to take that chance. It is many years later, and here I am swimming with my grandchildren!
