I believe the lack of diversity in clinical trial is a major public health matter and can have significant consequences if not addressed. It is essential to have a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds participate in clinical trials to reduce biases, promote social justice and health equity, and produce more innovative science. Diversity in clinical trials is important to me because I want to feel confident that the medicines and treatments we use are representative of patient groups that have tested them. Though many, I believe if we can improve diverse participation in clinical trials, we can help foster better health outcomes and improve care for racially and ethnically diverse communities.
