Diversity in clinical trials is important to me because I am an Asian woman. The lack of diversity in clinical trials is something that directly impacts me and my loved ones since I am a part of a minority group. A close friend of mine (another Asian woman) is studying health policy and management. Recently, we have been speaking quite often about our place in these types of spaces and how difficult it has been in navigating our emotions from how we have been directly impacted from the lack of diversity, but also learning how to control our emotions so that we can be effective in creating change to these spaces.
